These were a perfect Christmas stocking stuffer for my wife. She loved the scents almost as much as the wordplay in the names! ;)
You buy a new candle. Smells great in the jar! Get home, light it. And then it burns unevenly, or it's super smokey, or the wick runs out before the end of the candle (isn't there a Candles 101 for crap like that?), or you can only smell it by burning your nose hairs off. And you're just like, I paid how much for a glorified fiery paperweight?
Ordering online brings a whole new level of oh no. What if the creator's version of "winter wonderland" smells more like heaped piles of snow by the side of the road instead of a gloriously silent snowfall in the woods?
I ordered a Can'tdle because I saw the running tweet stories about the creator finding just the right jars (that matters?) and scent combinations (that definitely matters) and wicks (how many kinds could there be?) and wax types (apparently not all wax is good wax). There was this whole PROCESS. When the can'tdles went live, I was like, 'kay, who knows how this'll go, but I'll try one out.
My Can'tdle burns evenly and cleanly. It has enough scent to gently perfume the air, but not overwhelm like Aunt Gerdie's Chanel No. 5 every holiday, which is basically right there in your mouth with the ham and sweet potatoes. And you get a wax sample for another scent so you can get a feel for other flavors.
You can buy candles at Sprout's or Target, sure. But the amount of care and dedication that go into Can'tdles make it fun to support a very small business. You get a great, high-quality candle that was poured by hand, not a machine. So yeah, I'll be getting another one as soon as my Bitchcraft is done (it's about halfway down now).
